Tips to get an ex back?

What are some general good tips on getting an ex back? My girlfriend broke up with me 4 days ago, but she said she still wants to be friends and said to call her or email her if I needed to. Then the next day, she texted me something casually. I didnt know what to do, so I didnt respond til the next day. She did not respond back. Then the next night after, she starts talking to me on msn, saying how she ordered me some earrings online, and how she hoped I didn't mind (It's something we used to do together) and she said how I can still come over to watch the 3rd season of our favorite tv show once she has it downloaded. This confused me, but I went with my heart and I said sure I would like that. Did I make a mistake there? Should I have played it cool and acted as if I didn't need her anymore, to try and make her jealous or something? She is a very mature girl who (I thought) didn't play kiddy mind games, we are both 21, in university, she's an 80s student and I'm usually a 60s student, and we broke up because she thought we couldn't connect and have real conversations. I blamed the pot, because I was smoking quite frequently, including during school, and she saw no future with me I guess, needless to say, since the break up I have been going to the gym and trying to cut back on the pot to just weekends. This break up was my wake up call, but she keeps trying to be friends with me and it's bringing me mixed signals and I don't know what to do, if things could go back to the way they were and we had a fresh start, it could actually work this time, but I dont know if that's what she actually wants, or if she feels bad for hurting my feelings. So, sorry for the jargon, but what are some good general tips? Do I initiate conversation? Do I be all happy and smiley? Do I still ask to hang out? Do I try and get lots of chicks to write on my facebook wall? lol. PS. She hasn't removed our relationship status from facebook, its been 4 days, she goes on everyday :PTips to get an ex back?
So far so good. Sounds like she still thinks about you and if she wants you in her life, thats a good sign. Telling her sure you'd like to come over and watch the 3rd season wasnt a bad thing to say. Just when you guys hang out, behave causually. She wont want you back if you seem all needy and clingy. Also, keep in mind that even though shes 21, she still has the potential of playing mind games. Honesty is best...so no I don't think you made a mistake in saying you'd like to hang out. Don't be afraid to let this girl bring out the best in you. You should try getting better grades, quit smoking etc.
